Our Brown Rice (Dried) Products:


Spray Dried Rice Syrup Solids: Spray Dried Rice Syrup Solids are produced by breaking long starch molecules into smaller pieces, obtained by the enzymatic conversion of rice starch to a sweet liquid extract which is filtered and ran through a spray-drying process. Spray dried solids are water-soluble and contribute only a minimal amount of fat with good mouthfeel. In general use, the product serves as an effective carrier for sweeteners, gums, spices and seasonings. It is also commonly used as an effective bulking agent and to promote instant solubility.

Brown Rice Flour: Prepared by removing the husk and grinding the raw rice into a fine powder, Brown Rice Flour though more refined is a pound for pound replacement for all other flours. Rice flour is naturally gluten & wheat free, plain in flavor, creamy in color, and easy to digest. Rice flours are a necessity in a gluten free kitchen where they are used primarily for allergen-free breads, pancakes and muffins. It can also be used to thicken sauces in sweet and savoury dishes.

Rice Proteins: Prepared by filtering the insoluble protein and dietary fiber which is a by-product in the production of brown rice syrup, these insolubles are then washed to the desired protein content and dried. The end result is a fine rice protein powder concentrate which can be added to a variety of foods. It is currently being used as a vegan and non-GMO protein supplement in prepared foods and beverages.

Maltodextrin: Rice Maltodextrin are produced by breaking long starch molecules into smaller pieces, obtained by the enzymatic conversion of rice starch and monitoring the levels of dextrose and maltose so that the dextrose equivalent level does not exceed 20. Maltodextrins are obtained as white, spray dried solids containing 2-4 percent moisture. They are soluble in water and yield colorless, very bland solutions. Because of its high molecular weight, the product does not lower the freezing point in cold applications as much as sugars.


Organic Brown Rice Syrup
Suzanne's Specialties Rice Nectars are natural sweeteners produced by steeping brown rice with special enzymes (koji) which convert the mashed grain into a smooth flavored and pleasantly sweet liquid extract. The resulting mash is then filtered to remove insoluble materials. The sweet extract is finally concentrated under vacuum to create a rich, heavy syrup.

Because no single sweetener is adequate for all recipes, Suzanne's offers a wide variety of sweetness levels (DE) and types. You can be sure that no preservatives, artificial flavors or colors were used in producing our Rice Nectars. And all of our Rice Nectar variations are fat-free, gluten free, non-GMO and vegan.


Organic Agave Syrup
This light syrup is derived from the spiny Agave plant which thrives in the desert regions of the southwest United States. Agave Nectar is the natural fructose syrup of choice for health food processors. Being 1.5 times as sweet as sugar, Agave Syrup has a naturally low glycemic index, which allows using a smaller amount while achieving the same level of sweetness. Agave Syrup has traditionally been used as a main ingredient in Tequila.


Organic Barley Malt Syrup
Our OG Barley Malt Extract creates an excellent flavor enhancer, especially when combined with grains. It is produced by steeping organic barley, allowing the naturally present enzymes to convert the starches into soluble sugars. This syrup is then concentrated to produce the thick extract of malted barley.


Organic Molasses
This rich dark liquid is the by-product created during the process of refining cane sugar into table sugar. It is a superb choice to sweeten finished products such as cookies, candies, muffins, sauces and dark breads.


Organic Honey
Here at Suzanne's Specialties, the quality of our Organic Honey is a top priority. As a result, our honey undergoes thorough testing to insure its purity. Suzanne insists that only the highest grade honey comes into our manufacturing facility. Each variety of honey has a unique set of characteristics. This includes color, granulation, moisture content, and sugar profiles. We have the capabilities to produce low-diastase honey for dressing manufacturers and artisan bread bakers.

Honey is so much more than just a sweetener. For thousands of years mankind has utilized it for its theraputic properties. Rich in both minerals and nutrients, honey has been shown to have antibiotic properties by many research facilities. Only in recent years are these ancient cures being explored once again. More information is available from the National Honey Board. Honey is unique in that it is the only food source produced by insects and consumed by man. When using honey in a recipe or formula, 1 cup of honey replaces 1-1/4 cups of sugar.
